OLPN Changelog

A transparent timeline of updates to protocols, plugins, themes, and services. Stay informed about every improvement, fix, and new feature as the open legal network evolves.

The final milestone of our first month focused on community building and developer resources.

Key Updates:

  • Documentation Site Launch:
Released the first version of docs.olpn.org featuring:
    • Introduction to OLPN concepts and architecture.
    • Getting started guides for identity hubs and credentials.
    • This public changelog!
  • Founding Supporters Program:
Opened enrollment for early partners to help fund OLPN’s next phase of development.
  • Resolver Trace Beta:
Added a beta Trace tool to the resolver, allowing developers to debug and follow the credential verification process step-by-step.
This milestone marked OLPN’s transition from a working prototype to a growing ecosystem with resources for contributors and partners.

The second milestone focused on trust expansion and search improvements.

Key Updates:

  • Property Verification:
OLPN now verifies properties, such as domains and publishing hubs, linking them directly to entities. This step is essential for connecting verified datasets and ActivityPub feeds to legal identities.
  • Canonical Profile IDs:
Fixed duplicate search entries by introducing canonical profile IDs.
    Example:
    • ✅ Correct: https://olpn.org/search?olpn_id=§:entity:jedcain.com
    • ❌ Duplicate: https://olpn.org/search?olpn_id=jedcain.com
  • UI Improvements:
Added JavaScript enhancements so the browser’s address bar now shows the correct profile ID when viewing an entity.
These changes improved network reliability and created a foundation for broader publishing verification.

Launch of OLPN Alpha

We officially launched the OLPN Alpha, introducing the first version of the network focused on verified entities. This release was intentionally minimal — designed to prove out the core architecture and resolver functionality.

Highlights:

  • Support for verified entities only (e.g., individual lawyers, firms, associations).
  • Basic resolver to verify and display entity identities.
  • Early experimental search to test the foundation of OLPN’s discovery layer.
This milestone laid the groundwork for a decentralized legal publishing ecosystem — simple, raw, but functional.
